Ballasting the main line
The first step in getting the main line operational again is to ballast the tracks behind the tennis courts. Ballast not only guarantees support for the underground of the rails, but is also intended to prevent the wagon from tipping over in the event of a derailment.
The train carried a weight of around 570 kg (1256 lbs) of rubble per ride. With our crew of 3 men we managed to fill 6 loads. Thus, about 3.4 tons (7495 lbs) of rubble were spread in one afternoon.
